VRT4542 Overview

The Superior VRT4542 is the 42-inch Custom Series vent-free firebox in the VRT4500 lineup, a substantially larger and heavier-duty platform than the Merit and Pro tiers. This firebox features a full 30-inch tall and full-width refractory opening with firebrick extending to the front edge for an unobstructed wide-open view. The firebox is fully insulated for performance in colder climates, and standard barometric dampers are factory-installed on both sides allowing for dual outside air kits.

This firebox is sold without a log set, burner, or gas valve; pair the VRT4542 with any ANSI Z21.11.2-listed large-format vent-free log set. Choose between White Stacked or White Herringbone refractory panels at order time. Available outside air kit options include AK4 (with collar, hood, and 3-foot flex), AK4X (collar and hood only), and AK4F (for floor venting). Note: unlike the VRT2500/3100/3500 platforms, the VRT4500 does NOT offer optional blower kits or decorative doors (this is the rugged installation-focused tier). This is a firebox only. A vent-free gas log set, burner, and gas valve must be ordered separately to complete the installation. The firebox accepts any ANSI Z21.11.2-listed vent-free log set of the appropriate size. Warranty

The Superior VRT Vent-Free Firebox Series carries Innovative Hearth Products' 20-year limited warranty on the firebox and body, covering parts and labor when installed by a listed IHP supplier. Refractory panels and Mosaic Masonry components carry a 1-year warranty against thermal breakage. Electrical components, fans, switches, and accessories carry a 1-year warranty. Paint, plating, and finish are excluded. Vent-free log sets, burners, and gas controls are sold separately and are warranted by their respective manufacturers. Coverage begins at the date of installation and is non-transferable. Damage from abuse, accident, improper installation, normal wear, or unauthorized modification is not covered. Proof of purchase required.

IMPORTANT: Vent-free fireboxes are NOT permitted in California or Massachusetts and may be restricted in other jurisdictions. Customer is responsible for verifying local code compliance before purchase.
