Understand what water vapor delivers

Water vapor fireplaces create flame and smoke from cool mist, not heat. The visual effect is three dimensional and rises naturally, which photographs as real fire and convinces guests. Choose the format that fits your space

Does a water vapor fireplace make the room humid?

It adds humidity at a slow rate. A typical wall mount unit releases roughly 1/4 cup of moisture per hour, equivalent to a small ultrasonic humidifier. In a normal sized room this is barely noticeable. In tight, fully sealed spaces or basements, the cumulative humidity over a 12 hour run may be detectable.

How often do I need to refill the water?

Can I use tap water in a water vapor fireplace?

No. Tap water and even most filtered water contains minerals that coat the ultrasonic transducers and dramatically shorten their service life. Distilled water is required, available at any grocery store for 1 to 2 dollars per gallon. A 5 gallon container lasts a typical user one to two months.

Do water vapor fireplaces produce heat?

The water vapor effect itself produces no heat. Many models include an optional electric heater alongside the vapor system, typically 1,500 watts on a 120 volt circuit, which produces 4,000 to 5,100 BTUs. The heater can be run independently or together with the flame effect.
