About This Service

Safe Removal of Outdated Fireplace Units

Old gas fireplaces, wood stoves, electric inserts, and pellet appliances eventually reach end-of-life. This happens through obsolescence, damage, fuel-source changes, or simply because the homeowner wants something different. We handle the full removal process: gas line decommissioning, electrical disconnection, physical removal, and responsible disposal.

Trade-in credit is available on qualifying units when the removal is paired with a new fireplace installation from one of our partner brands. The trade-in offsets installation costs and ensures your old unit is properly decommissioned rather than landfilled.

For homes preparing for sale, removal eliminates the negotiating leverage buyers gain from outdated or non-functional fireplaces during home inspection. A clean firebox or replacement unit is a stronger asset than a 30-year-old appliance flagged in the inspection report.

Common Questions

Old Unit Removal & Trade-In FAQ

Do you offer trade-in credit on my old fireplace?
Yes, when the removal is paired with a new fireplace installation from one of our partner brands. Trade-in value varies based on the unit's brand, age, and condition. We provide a written trade-in offer as part of any new install quote.
Can you remove a fireplace if I'm not buying a new one?
Yes. We handle stand-alone removals for homeowners restoring traditional masonry fireboxes, removing failed or unsafe units, or preparing properties for sale.
How do you decommission a gas appliance?
Per Connecticut code, gas appliances must be shut off at the appliance valve, the supply line capped at the appliance connection, and the appliance removed from the gas system. We perform all of these steps and provide documentation.
Do you remove the surround or hearth?
If requested. Hearth and surround removal is a separate scope from appliance removal. We'll quote it as part of the project if you want the full opening restored.
What happens to the old unit?
Working appliances are donated when feasible. Otherwise, metal components are recycled and remaining materials are properly disposed of. We can provide disposal documentation on request.
How quickly can you schedule a removal?
Stand-alone removals typically schedule within 1 to 2 weeks. Removal-and-replacement projects coordinate with the new installation timeline.
